Toronto, ON - The Toronto Maple Leafs have announced the hiring of Derek Clancey as assistant general manager player personnel, effective immediately. Clancey brings a wealth of NHL experience to the organization, having previously worked as a pro scout with the Calgary Flames.

Clancey's hiring marks the first appointment made by Jim Rutherford since he became president of hockey operations and interim general manager of the Maple Leafs in May. Clancey previously worked with Rutherford during his time with the Vancouver Canucks, where he was the first person hired by Rutherford when he became president of hockey operations there.

A seasoned professional, Clancey has over 34 years of experience in the NHL, having served in various roles with the Flames, Canucks, and St. Louis Blues. He is known for his strong scouting abilities and his expertise in player evaluation.
